Nenmanikara Gram Panchayat Launches E-Vanchi Rural Tourism Project
തിരുവനന്തപുരം :
Varkala celebrated the festive season with the unveiling of the district's inaugural floating bridge – a Christmas and New Year's present to the locals. Located at Varkala Papanasam, this floating bridge marks a significant milestone as the first of its kind in Thiruvananthapuram district. The overarching goal is to replicate this success by introducing floating bridges across districts with scenic beaches, harnessing the potential of water sports in the picturesque state of Kerala. The project's vision extends beyond creating a unique experience for tourists; it strives to bolster beach tourism in Kerala and offer a viable alternative to Malayalees who often seek water sports adventures in Goa or Thailand. By making water sports more accessible, especially through initiatives like floating bridges, the project aims to tap into the economic and employment potential within the state.Measuring 100 meters in length and three meters in width, the floating bridge culminates in an 11 by 7-meter platform, providing visitors with a stunning panoramic view. Boasting a capacity for 300 people simultaneously, the bridge operates from 11 am to 6 pm. Safety measures are a top priority, with safety boats, life jackets, vigilant lifeguards, and local fishermen ensuring the well-being of tourists.Constructed using approximately 1,400 high-quality plastic blocks, the floating bridge stands as a testament to innovative engineering. To enhance the water sports experience, tourists can indulge in activities like banana boat rides, jet skiing, speed boating, jet attacks, and ATV rides. The entry fee for the floating bridge is Rs 120, allowing visitors a delightful 20-minute sojourn on the bridge.
